Being into clothing, I’ve notice that these days using social media is the most important part when trying to get your brand out there and attract customers. Wether its from clothing to work out accessories, social media is the new way to go if you want to start. Currently I follow multiple clothing brands that release clothing/sneakers once, and then would never release the same pieces again. An example of a brand I want to talk about is called “Menace Los Angeles”. They are a clothing brand based out of Los Angeles and can be seen on rappers such as Gunna, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, Party Next Door, Lil Yachty and even basketball players such as LaMelo Ball.

They are doing things right by promoting their clothing with celebrities and making the clothing exclusive. Menace Los Angeles releases multiple pieces of clothing at once every 2–3 months. This causes the urgency for people to want to buy their clothing because not everybody can get it. I bought a hoodie off them right when they released it at 6pm on October 2nd and it was sold out at 6:03pm. Having the exclusivity of clothing has people being motivated to do what it takes to get it such as, saving or making sure they are free at the time of when the clothing drops. With their following count being at 103,000 on instagram makes the brand look better because of their popularity. The reason I chose this brand compared to others is because they are the most popular non mainstream brand that does this technique and uses only social media (instagram) to promote their clothing. Their clothing is not cheap too but people will buy it just because of the exclusivity as said before, how good their clothing looks and the people that wear it. The one thing I would change about the brand though is having more release dates. If I were them, I would use the reputation I have knowing that people will buy it even if it expensive. This would then lead to more profit for the business. I would still make my clothing exclusive, but I would just release more of it because I know people would buy my stuff. Releases first started with shoes from when people would line up outside for days to get their hands on a pair of sneakers. It now has transitioned into clothing as well, where it also gives young entrepreneurs who want to start their own urban clothing/sneaker brands a chance because almost everybody has social media. Social media has made it so easy to advertise to people and help establish a customer relationship with them. Instagram is filled with many teenagers and young adults which is my Menace Los Angeles is doing so well because that is the target market they are aiming for. I am in the midst of creating my own clothing brand and hope one day with the effort I put in, I could become as big as some of the brands I shop from. Wish me luck!
